Stomach cancer

Stomach cancer is called also gastric cancer, it appears when cancer cell start growing into normal stomach wall.
Risk factors:
  • pylori infection
  • gastritis, ulcers
  • long-lasting anemia
  • stomach polyps
  • less possible factors – smoking, a diet high in smoked, pickled, or salty foods, epstein-Barr virus infection, working in coal, metal, timber, or rubber industries, exposure to asbestos
The most common symptoms in patients with stomach cancer are:
  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Anorexia, disgust of food, meat, fish and other food
  • Weight Loss
  • Pain in the upper abdomen
  • Vomiting food/blood
Diagnostic procedures:
  • Blood tests
  • Endoscopic examination with biopsy
  • X-ray examination with barium
  • CT
Treatment:
  • Surgery

    • Partial or subtotal gastrectomy
    • The total gastrectomy
  • Chemotherapy
